Live on Purpose: The Role of Intention
I’ve been in my house for nearly five years and I’ve only just worked out what light switches are for what. Up until this morning, I would switch all of the ones on in the kitchen to get the hall light on; and fumble my way through the three switches in the lounge to turn the dining table light on. This annoys my partner and frustrates me.
This morning as I went to turn the back lights on in the kitchen, I thought, I’m going to purposefully learn what switch is for what. The top one is for the front kitchen lights, the back one is for the back kitchen lights above the stove, and the bottom one is for the hall. Next. The top lounge one is for the lounge (makes sense). The middle one is for the dining table (also makes sense). And the bottom one is for the front lights in the kitchen in case you want to turn them on from the lounge (perfect sense).
Frustration gone. Relationship tension evaporated. It took me 30 seconds. Why did I choose today to transform my experience of light switches in my house? What groundwork have I been laying? Why did it take me so long? And how else can we find our purpose and live a calmer and more meaningful life?
We are not the frustrations in our life, we are the transformation of small and big aspects of our life. We are not the body and mind we cling to, because all that changes over time and in a flash. So what are we?
We can clear the path so we can serve ourselves and others in a calmer and more meaningful way. There’s almost nothing in the way many people live their life that supports this way of being. The ancient yogi’s and their wisdom have created a blueprint for us to follow. Yoga. 5% of yoga is about moving your body. The other 95% is about moving your mind.
Let’s find out together. If you are interested, come to a sangha (community) kōrerō (chat) in the studio and online. I haven’t set a date yet. I’m waiting for you.
