Relax. Calm. Work healthier.

Special at-work classes to treat staff and care for wellbeing

50-minute, half or full day, or 5-week workplace sessions to destress, unwind and learn simple relaxation techniques.

Sometimes there is just not enough time to go to the loo! At least that’s what we tell ourselves. You can’t give if the tank is empty. We need to cultivate the relaxation response to combat chronic stress and joy-less tension. This doesn’t need to be done over a year, in a meditation temple in the Himalayas. Experience calm while at work through the BeCalmed Yourself practice so you can work healthier right now. Techniques are suitable for all bodies and experiences. Bring a little bit of calm to your work day - and life.

What will you be doing? Restorative yoga postures in stillness; deep breathing and other breath techniques; gentle stretches; and a Yoga Nidra guided meditation. Classes uniquely designed to suit all kaupapa and needs.

What experience do people need? Nothing. Nadda. Zilch. All you need is a desire to care for your hauora and that of your colleagues. Suitable for all bodies and experiences.

What to bring: Yourselves. All supports provided. There is no strenuous yoga poses, just gentle movement, sitting down, or lying down with supports.

Who is taking the class? Trained and experienced Restorative Yoga, Yin Yoga, Meditation and Yoga Nidra teacher, Janie Walker. Read more about her here.

What is the BeCalm Yourself practice?

COMFORT - Drop down into the body. Relax the nervous system. Relax the body to relax the mind. Simple and easy. Find a little more comfort. Bring new awareness to tension and release.

BREATH - The breath either moves us, rests us, or depowers us. One of the easiest ways to feel better is through the breath. By connecting the breath to our bodies and mind, we can begin to find our delicious inner calm.

RELEASE - Just by finding ways to release tension (physical and mental) we can feel ourselves in a different place. To be and do more, sometimes we just need to still. Focus on the outbreath.

FLOW - Let go of effort. Feel flow and move through life a little different. Experience moments of true calm to take it with you. Make a shift.

Noho ora mai.

Classes can be delivered in 50-minute classes; five-weekly sessions; half-day workshops; or full-day workshops.

We are very lucky to have Janie bring her expertise and gentle presence to our Day Service at the Mary Potter Hospice.  Janie skillfully adapts her sessions to the specific needs of the palliative patients in our care, and holistically enhances their wellbeing by working on breathwork, grounding, and chair-based yoga movements.  Janie has a beautiful, calm presence and a reassuring way of interacting with her clients that brings everyone peace, clarity, strength, and rejuvenation.  The feedback has been extremely positive. Many thanks, Janie!Susi and the tema at Mary Potter Hospice
